Description

Welcome to Shrekathon, Concordia Game Development Club’s Shrek-themed 48-hour game jam happening from March 20th to March 22nd! For two full days, participants will work in teams (or solo!) to design, develop, and bring a game to life from scratch. Whether you’re a programmer, artist, designer, writer, sound designer, or just someone who loves creative chaos, this is your chance to build something incredible in a fun, high-energy environment.

Mentors

Our mentors are industry professionals and creators who will guide you through every stage of the development process — from concept and design to final implementation. Throughout the weekend, you’ll follow their curated workshops to learn core skills, build individual game components, and bring them together into your final playable project.

Venue & Labs

The Learnathon will take place at Concordia University — our main creative hub for the weekend! 🎮

Computer labs require ENCS accounts to log in. Let us know if you want to use one but have no account.

Game Showcase & Judging

All judging will take place on the day of submission on Sunday. If the participants wish to update their submissions in the following days, the submissions will be reopened for 5 days after the jam ends. Do keep in mind that we only judge the version that is submitted on Sunday.

The participants will be stationed at a workstation at the end of the jam and the judges will go judge each team one by one.

Shrekathon Rules

  • No AI-generated art or music!!!
  • Create an itch.io page and submit your work on Sunday at 5PM
  • Credit your borrowed assets!
  • At least one member of the team has to present their project to the judges on-site

Concordia Game Development Club acknowledges that this event takes place on unceded Indigenous lands.

  • SHREK - 2pts
  • One button control - 1pt
  • Outside the swamp: No godot, unity or unreal - 1pt
  • Put a shrek movie easter egg - 1pt
  • Can you not be random for 5 minutes?: Has something random happened every 5 minutes - 1pt
